Halles Komet The band has been around since 2006, when Morten Halle, Edvard Askeland and Torstein Lofthus became acquainted with pianist Andre Petersen on a tour of South Africa with the band Søyr. Torstein Lofthus (drums) (b. 1977) Torstein studied at the Norw. State Academy of Music. He was instrumental in starting the band Shining with Jørgen Munkeby while he was still a student. He played on the band's first seven albums before he quit in 2014. As a jazz musician he iscan be heard with bands like “Elephant9”, “Chrome Hill” and with Ola Kvernberg, Mathias Eick and Torun Eriksen. In addition, he is one of the most sought-after studio and touring musicians, and works with a wide range of artists like Odd Nordstoga, Maria Mena, Jarle Bernhoft, Vamp and Marit Larsen. Feya Faku (trumpet) (b. 1962) The legendary South African trumpeter coming from Port Elizabeth, a region that has produced many of the greatest jazz musicians in the country. Feya has played with Abdhullah Ibrahim, Bheki Mseleku, Winston Mankunku and many others. While he takes care of the legacy of this generation of great musicians, he contributes to the development of South African jazz into the next century. Andre Petersen (piano) (b. 1972) Andre Petersen is active as a pianist, composer, educator and organizer in the South African music scene. He has received numerous awards and honors. Among others; the prestigious SAMRO award in 2009. He is a virtuoso pianist who combines American jazz tradition with African music in his very own way. Alongside his career in his home country and Norway, Petersen also played with many international star musicians such as Stefon Harris, Marcus Strickland, Reggie Washington, Dave Liebman and Zap Mama.
