On 19 March 2004 at 10pm, Nils Henrik Asheim sat down at the organ of Oslo Cathedral to play an improvisational concert as part of the programme of the Oslo International Church Music Festival. At 11.03pm he finished playing. The result is captured on this disc.
The main organ of the Oslo Cathedral is buildt by Ryde & Berg Organbuilders in 1998.

Nils Henrik Asheim has his education from the Norwegian State Academy of Music and the Sweelinck Conservatory, Amsterdam. He is one of the most established and active composers in his generation in Norway today. His list of works includes chamber music, music for symphony orchestra, theatre and computer-based works. Nils Henrik Asheim is also a prominent performer on organ and piano. As an organist he is especially renowned for his improvisational work. His has a.o. released the two solo CDs "16 Pieces for Organ" and "19.03.04, Oslo Cathedral".
